Commissions & teaching

Portraits, drawing
& teaching

Simon takes a small number of portrait and drawing commissions, and has taught life drawing for over thirty years. Whether it’s a portrait of someone you love or a class for your group, it begins with a conversation.

How it works

The process

01

Conversation

We start with a conversation — the subject or sitter, the medium, the size and what you want the piece to hold. No obligation.

02

Sittings & studies

For a portrait, Simon works from sittings or from your photographs, beginning with drawn studies to find the likeness and the pose.

03

The work

The finished drawing or painting is developed in his own hand — coloured pencil, pastel, conté or paint, as suits the subject.

04

Framing & delivery

You approve the finished work, which can be supplied mounted or framed and delivered ready to hang.

What can be commissioned
